And Yet Even More...
Another huge discovery...most of my users can't see more than half of all of my web pages because one half of them are viewing it with a resolution of 1024x768. Don't they know that's not what I use? Don't they know that I'm designing on a widescreen laptop at 1440 x 900? Oh, Michelle, Michelle, Michelle...why didn't you consider this years ago...I ask? And then, nearly a quarter of them are using a rediculous 800 x 600...I have no response to that...
So what I did of course is set my monitor to 800 x 600 to proof it, and after crying at the loss of sales due to this all-out crisis, I realized...how do you sell product to people when they can't see it on the page? YOU CAN'T!!!!!....And we all know people don't scroll as a general rule. But since I believe in moving forward and learning from my bountiful mistakes, I am painfully redesigning each page. I am making my photos smaller, which addresses my dial up issues. I use adobe go live, which automatically optimizes my imagery, so I'm confident that I'm ok with that issue. I have a large store, but I'm motivated, and am working on it as fast as I can. It'll be done swiftly.
Did I mention that I'll be naming my next child Analytics...a name that is so near and dear to my heart..that's it for now.
