Group Land ~ Full of Adventure
eBay introduced “Groups” to the community back in August 2003. It was a response to member’s requests to have spaces that were less competitive than eBay’s “big boards” Since then “Group Land” has grown to more than half a million members!
There are about 3,500 groups within the community.
Ranging from Collector Clubs to Special interests and everything in between. Groups can be on a local or worldwide level. They can be open to the public or private.
Group land is a social network loaded with information and facilitating friendships. Groups are led by eBay members in good standing with 50+ feedback and have been registered with eBay for at least 90 days. When all of this is met, anyone can become a Group leader and start a group of choice.
My most popular group is called: Selling Tips. I started this group last year and since then became too busy to manage it. I then stepped down from leadership and turned it over to another eBay selling volunteer “Paula Jeans Jewelry and Closet!” She has taken over the leadership role and is doing a fantastic job with it. I am a Moderator there and still offer my selling help when I can.
I spend the most time with a group I started called: The eBay Community Cookbook Group! We will soon be celebrating our one year anniversary on October 13th. We organize eCookbooks for fun! Your welcome to enjoy our newest eBook in pdf format:
I’m also involved in many other groups as a moderator and a leader. Moderators help with the organizing of the group and assist the leader as needed. Each group has their own rules along with eBay’s Groups Usage Policies.
When you first visit a group I suggest reading the Charter for that group. It can be found on the Welcome page of all groups. Many groups have rules and regulations designed by the leader and the moderators.
The largest group has about 50 thousand members. That is called the eBay Workshops Calendar Group! In fact I just took part in a workshop helping people understand the new Group Platform that has recently changed. There is a new group soon to open: Where it all begins ~ WIAB, Opening Oct 8th. This new group is being organized by eBay selling Volunteers: Shop4UniqueGifts and Kamms_Attic.
The purpose of the group is to inform eBay members about eBay groups. This in collaboration with the eBay groups information center. Is a centralize gathering where new eBay members can come to learn all about eBay groups and be interactive.
They will showcase all sorts of learning experiences including learning how to post (in threads, photo albums, story boards, links, documents), how to be active, where to go for answers within the group etc.
This will be a wonderful opportunity for everyone to learn about Group Land with a hands-on type of experience!
An amazing fact about all of this is that the Leaders, Moderators and members are all volunteers! We all do what we do because of our love for eBay and helping others.
Group Land can also be a brilliant marketing tool for your eBay business! You can “Share Your Wares” with other members and offer a discount to your fellow group friends!

Visit the eBay group home page and type in the group search bar your interests. Try a few different key words to locate a group. You can also try to search for a local group from your state , town or country!
Groups are worldwide!
